The production season of this type of (unsheared) lambskin generally starts around July and reaches its peak in November. The length of the wool ranges from 1.5 to 3.5 inches at different stages of the season.
All double-sided lambskins are generally selectedunder the rawhide condition (before salting)according to the type of wool, eggs and ribmarks, and then graded after salting. This kind of procedure is especially important for maintaining the consistency of quality. Lamb skins with visible eggs should be sorted out, quoted and sold separately.
